Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has thrown his heavy weight behind the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu, saying that continuity is needed to consolidate on what he has begun.

He said that Nigeria is in capable and safe hands under the current administration and that he should be allowed to continue with it.

Governor Fubara declared his support while declaring open the meeting of the Southern Traditional Rulers Council in Port Harcourt, where monarchs from the 17 southern states gathered to deliberate on issues of unity, security, and economic development.

Fubara noted that the Tinubu administration is making measurable progress in reviving the economy and delivering key infrastructure, including coastal road projects, despite prevailing challenges.

Newstracktoday while quoting Sun Newspapers, said Fubara reiterated the need for continuity in governance, cautioning that changing leadership midway could disrupt ongoing reforms. According to him, sustaining the current direction is critical to consolidating development gains.

Fubara also urged stakeholders across the southern region to work together toward shared goals, emphasising that unity remains essential for long-term growth and stability.

Earlier, the chairman of the council, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, said the meeting was convened to promote peace and strengthen cohesion across the region.

He maintained that the forum reflects the diversity of the South and serves as a platform for traditional rulers to engage on common interests.

Ogunwusi added that the council would also explore ways to support government efforts in addressing security and economic challenges, stressing the importance of collaboration in national development.
