The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Benin, has said that the company has since completed the upgrading of its facilities, therefore is not responsible for the black out currently being faced in the major parts of Benin City.
Newstracktoday reports that the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC)Plc, in its circular made public, appealed to residents of the state, especially some areas which are going to be heavily affected by power outage to bear with them as the TCN are going to embark on upgrading of its facilities, therefore, there will not be constant supply of electricity pending the completion.
The BEDC management appealed further to the affected areas to bear with them till January 7, 2024.
This stance was also corroborated by the TCN management as they took journalists in the state around some of its facilities where it was actually proven that the company was upgrading its facilities in the state.
However, January 7 past and there was still no improvement in power supply to the affected areas.
Reacting to that, a top management staff of the company (TCN) who preferred anonymity said, the engineers went on Christmas break but promised that the job will be soon be completed, yet the problem persisted.
However, when Newstracktoday pressed further, the top management said the issue of no light in the major parts of the state is no longer their cause as they have since done with the upgrade of their facilities
“TCN completed the upgrading of its facilities on the 29th of January. We have energized and placed in full use while the Ihovbo sub-region was done on the 3rd of February this month.
“So, the problem is no longer from us.
“I hope you are also aware of shortage of gas?”, the top management staff asked rhetorically.
