Vigilante Fatal Punch, Leaves Blind Man’s Wife Dead In Edo

There was pandemonium at Bamawo street in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State as a fatal punch from a member of the Edo State Security Network (ESSN) leaves a woman dead.

It was gathered that the deceased, Mrs. Mamuyonvre Iyamu, was a wife to a visually impaired man.

Trouble, they said, began when some aggrieved members of the security outfit in the area went to the residence of the victim and began to assault her son, also known as ‘Chibobo’ in the presence of his mother over the delay in payment of his N25,000 debt.

Sources also claimed that in a bid for the attacker to hit the said Chibobo, he mistakenly hits his (Chibobo) mother on her chest.

The victim suddenly slammed her skull on a cemented floor, and was left dead in the pool of her own blood by her attackers.

It was said that some courageous neighbours were said to have rescued Mamuyonvre’s body on the floor and rushed her to at least three different hospitals for urgent medical attention before she died.

The alleged murderer, according to sources, took to his heels along with Chibobo ― a welder whose visually impaired and crestfallen widower, Mr Iyamu, helpless.

But a vigilante Commander in-charge of the area has been arrested for culpable homicide by the police operatives who have also intensified a search to arrest Chibobo whose elder brother, ‘Mr Wisdom’ had paid N10,000 to his creditors ahead of the unfortunate incident.

However, the state police command is yet to issue a statement to that effect.
