The Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed his preparedness of his government to work with the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to foster rapid development in the state.
He said this while playing host to the leadership of the union, led by its state chairman, Festus Alenkhe at the Government House, Benin.
Okpebholo lauded the chairman of the council for being able to ensure that Journalists in the state are holding firmly to the ethics of the profession.
Earlier, the NUJ chairman, Festus Alenkhe said that he has deemed fit to bring the leadership of the union to pay a courtesy call on him (Governor Okpebholo) to congratulate him on his victory at the polls and his subsequent inauguration.
He said the union under his leadership has been able to ensure that practicing Journalists in the state adhere to the ethical standard of the profession.
Mr. Alenkhe said in doing that, the names of the practicing Journalists in the state and their places of work have been compiled and their records are kept with the union.
Alenkhe who used the opportunity to invite the governor for the Journalists Classic Dinner bids for for February 8, 2025, said that the leadership of the union is ever ready to join hands with his government to succeed.
