The general overseer and founder of God’s Greater Grace General Assembly Intl Incorporated, Benin, Rev Sunny Akenbor has said that Nigeria as a country is blessed with human and natural resources, yet her people are plagued with hunger, starvation and other heart wrenching crimes like kidnapping, banditry.

He disclosed this while speaking on the topic: “It can be reversed” during the Sunday church service in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

Rev. Akenbor said many things are happening to people without they knowing the root causes, adding that, it could be traceable to what their forebears have done.

Akenbor said some could have even shed innocent blood or done something so terrible that is now haunting their children.

Akenbor, while reading the book of Deuteronomy 19:10, said “Do this so that innocent blood will not be shed in your land, which the Lord your God is giving you as your inheritance, and so that you will not be guilty of bloodshed”.

Akenbor said God was telling the Israelites not to shed innocent blood on the land that he has given them as an inheritance.

The Israelites should not pollute the land with innocent blood and bring blood guilt upon themselves.

He said nothing good can happened in a place where innocent blood is being shed as God Himself has warned seriously against such.

The clergyman, speaking further, said curse is real and that it only takes the power of God Almighty to reverse it, pointing out that, Joshua in the bible once laid a curse on a city and it remain same. Therefore, one must be careful over what he or she does to avoid being cursed.

“At that time Joshua pronounced this solemn oath: “Cursed before the LORD is the one who undertakes to rebuild this city, Jericho: “At the cost of his firstborn son he will lay its foundations; at the cost of his youngest he will set up its gates.” Joshua 6:26.

The clergyman explained further that after so many years, Joshua laid the curse on Jericho, Hiel of Bethel, ignorantly decided to lend a helping hand in rebuilding the city but he was not spared. He paid dearly for it.

“Hiel of Bethel; when he rebuilt Jericho during the reign of King Ahab, he lost his firstborn son when laying the foundation and his youngest son when setting up the gates, fulfilling Joshua’s curse”, I Kings 16:34.

The general overseer of the church went further to say it is not too late only if the leadership of this country, everyone, could come back to God with the hearts of humility, that He is able to take away all the curses from our lands, homes and grants us His abundant blessings.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land”, 11 Chronicles 7:14

Reaffirming the possibility of God taking our curses away, he said Jesus Christ has taken away all our curses as it is said “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us”, Gal. 3:13.
