Benin City, Nigeria — The esteemed Best of Edo Award makes a remarkable return for its 8th edition, embracing the dynamic theme: “Ideas in Motion”—a powerful tribute to creativity, innovation, and cultural distinction.
What began as a local initiative has since evolved into a globally recognized platform, celebrating exceptional Edo sons and daughters who are shaping society through visionary leadership, innovation, and impactful service. Over the years, the award has honored notable icons such as the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa and Prof. Victor Uwaifo, alongside distinguished living trailblazers like Dr. Owen Omogiafo, High Chief Dr. Mike Ozekhome (renowned legal luminary), Dr. Ehizojie Ohiowele, and many others whose contributions span various sectors.
This edition features an expanded structure with newly introduced award categories, reflecting emerging trends and evolving societal needs. Areas such as Technology and Innovation, Youth Leadership, Sustainability, Diaspora Excellence, and the Creative Economy have been added to ensure the award remains relevant, inclusive, and future-forward. In total, over 35 honorees will be recognized across diverse categories including Culture & Heritage, Leadership & Governance, Diaspora Excellence, Business & Enterprise Leadership, Youth Empowerment, Entertainment & Popular Culture, and Legacy Tributes & Humanitarian Honors.
With a fully digitized nomination and selection process, the 8th edition prioritizes broader participation, fairness, and merit-based evaluation—upholding transparency and credibility through expert panels and data-informed assessments.
Visually, the award has undergone a refined rebrand that artfully fuses Edo’s rich cultural heritage with the elegance of contemporary global standards. Every design element—from the emblem to event staging—reinforces a bold, authentic identity.
This year’s ceremony promises a premium experience, featuring immersive storytelling, hybrid participation (physical and virtual), and robust collaborations across the public and private sectors.
