The Management of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma has quashed the suspension order placed on the conduct of the Student Union Government (SUG) election in the institution, just as it warns them against act of thuggery.
This was contained in a release issued in Ekpoma by the University’s Head of Corporate Communications and Protocol, Otunba Mike Aladenika and made available to newsmen in Benin City.
According to Aladenika “The Student Services Division has been mandated to come out with a schedule for the Student Union Election. This schedule is expected to be released within the next day or two.
“The lifting of this initial suspension was contained in a memo issued by the Acting Registrar, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Comrade Ambrose E. Odiase, which said, “On the 2nd of May 2024, on-going preparations for the Student Union Elections were temporarily suspended. This suspension was the consequence of adverse security reports.
“Based on an updated favourable security report and advice, the Student Services Division has since been mandated to come out with a schedule for the Student Union Election. This schedule is expected to be released within the next day or two.”
The University’s Head, Corporate Communications and Protocol further said, “Based on this recent development, the aspirants and, indeed, the entire students’ community are enjoined to remain calm and avoid actions that will truncate the elections.”
“With the lifting of the initial suspension, Student Union activism is set to resume the expected momentum. As such, activists, contestants and the entire student community are expected to play in accordance with the rules, devoid of any thuggery or any other vices which run counter to established rules of the institution,” Aladenika said.
