The Oba of Benin, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, has asked the Governor-elect of Edo, Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to live up to his campaign promises to the people of the State.
He gave the task when he received Okpebholo and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa, who where at his palace to presented their Certificates of Return to him.
He expressed gratitude to God for the peaceful conduct of the election.
“We thank God Almighty for the peaceful election. We thank God for hearing our prayers. Even now, we are still fasting and praying for peace and tranquility in the state,” he said.
Oba Ewuare II used the occasion to thank Nigeria’s President for ensuring a successful and peaceful election.
“I cannot end it without thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces for everything, for ensuring a peaceful election.
“This palace is open to you, anytime, whether 1am or 2 am, you can come and I will see you,” he told Okpebholo.
Earlier, the Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, told the King that he and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa, were at the palace to present their Certificates of Return to the Monarch.
Newstracktoday recall that the Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, during his electioneering campaigns, promised to employ 5000 teachers to bridge the yearning gaps of shortages of teachers in the state.
He also promised soft loans to market women and also to build primary healthcare centres in the various parts of the state and many more if being elected as govern.
