The general overseer and founder, God’s Greater Grace General Assembly Intl Incorporated, Benin, Rev Sunny Akenbor, has tasked Christians to be mindful of the covenant they enter into, saying aftermath could be dangerous.

He gave the task while speaking on the theme: “The power of covenant” at the Sunday service in Benin City.

Rev. Akenbor who took his bible reading from the book of Genesis 17:1-10, Exodus 23:32, Psalm 89:35, 11 Samuel 9:1 and other relevant portions of the bible, said that covenant is very powerful and that there are the good one and the bad one.

He said that christians are great beneficiaries of the “Abrahamic” covenant today because of his obidient to the will of God.

Akenbor said that people entered into covenant for so many reasons without knowing their implications.

The clergyman said some persons are suffering from what they have no knowledge of and that with a little probe and a mind of curiosity, one could find out that it could have been the covenant entered into by ones forebears or the one he or she has entered without knowing its implication.

He said it is possible because covenant has the potentiality of outliving the individual that has entered into it depending on the kind of oath being taken.

He said that David and Jonathan had a covenant but unfortunately, Jonathan died before David became the king of Israel but he (David ) tried to keep part of his bargain by extending hands of fellowship to Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan.

“David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” II Samuel 9: 1

He said not until the covenant (the bad covenant) is broken, there cannot be meaningful progress adding that it is good to discover the root cause of a thing as it can be a leeway to solving it.

He further called on parents to be mindful of what they bequeath to their children as it is more rewarding to show them the way of the Lord because having the word of God in their hearts, will help them make the right decision in life.
