The general overseer and founder, God’s Greater Grace General Assembly, Intl Incorporated, Benin, Rev Sunny Akenbor has cautioned christian faithful to be mindful of their tongues because there reside the power of life and death.

He gave the advice during the Sunday church service in Benin while speaking on the topic: “I will get to my Canaan Land”.

Rev. Akenbor who took his bible reading from the book of Deut. 1:2-8, Gen. 50:24, 48:41, Psalm 118:17 and other relevant portions of the bible to buttress his points, said God’s plans for His children in this 11th months of the year, is to enlarge their coast by moving them from the position they have been for a long time to a better place where they can have fulfilment and rest in all sides.

“It takes eleven days to go from Horeb to Kadesh Barnea by the Mount Seir road.

“In the fortieth year, on the first day of the eleventh month, Moses proclaimed to the Israelites all that the Lord had commanded him concerning them.

“This was after he had defeated Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, and at Edrei had defeated Og king of Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth.

“East of the Jordan in the territory of Moab, Moses began to expound this law, saying:

“The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain.

“Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites; go to all the neighbouring people in the Arabah, in the mountains, in the western foothills, in the Negev and along the coast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the Euphrates.

“See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—and to their descendants after them”, Deut. 1:2-8.

Akenbor added that for them to get to their places of rest and fulfilment, which is Canaan, they must have to watch over their tongues and temperament because Moses could not tame his and he paid dearly for it by not getting to his destination having laboured for it.

“I am about to die, but God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land to the land that he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob”, Gen. 50:24.

He said christians must learn to be positive in their words no matter how unpleasant the situations they are facing might be just like David who constantly maintained that he would not die but live to declare the name of the Lord.

“I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done”,Psalm 118:17.

He urged believers to be steadfast and always see the positive side of life no matter what life throws at them because there will always be light at the end of the tunnel.
