BEDC Harps On Workers Safety, Gives PPEs To Newly Recruited Staff

The management of BEDC Electricity Plc’s has harped on the safety of its staff by providing its newly recruited staff with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The management also tasked the newly recruited staff of the company not to compromise their safety for anybody but be guided that families and the nation needs their services the most.

The Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of BEDC Electricity Plc, Engr. Jonathan Lawani, gave the task while presenting them with the Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at the company’s headquarters in Benin City.

He warned them that on no account should they trade off their safety for anybody no matter how highly placed the person might be, saying that they must insist that the right thing and the right equipment must be provided for them to carry out their work.

Engr. Lawani said that the company places premium on the safety of its workers and must do everything possible to safeguard them so that they can serve the public better.

“Anybody that is working with this company, and the field officers must be properly kitted for safety of their lives, safety of the company, safety of the places where we work, that is the community, and for the safety of the country at large.

“That is why we have imbibed this our culture into a safety anthem by BEDC.

“And reciting this anthem, we say that we will practice safety for our sake, personally, for the sake of our families, for the sake of BEDC and ultimately, for the sake of the nation.

He however appealed to them to practice safety first and be dedicated to their job and by so doing, the company can be built and for a greater service delivery to its teeming customers.

Part of the Personal Protection Equipment issued include, the safety hats, safety boots, the coverall dress, reflective jackets and others.
