The Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has been thrown into mourning following the death of its bishop, Peter Nworie Chukwu.
A statement signed by its Vicar General, Donatus Oluwa Chukwu, said the late bishop died on Friday at the age of 60.
It stated that Chukwu was born on November 1, 1965, was ordained a priest in July 1993, and was consecrated and installed as a bishop on August 19, 2021.
It was learnt that the late bishop died as a result of health issues and had undergone surgery, which was unsuccessful.
Newstracktoday while quoting Sun Newspapers, the bishop’s death has thrown the Catholic faithful in the state into deep mourning.
