The media aide to Senator Monday Okpebholo, Mr. Godeswill Inegbe has described the media reports in some quarters claiming that his principal, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) did not register to vote in the forthcoming governorship election in the state, is false and a lie from the pit of hell.
This was contained in a statement signed by him (Godeswill Inegbe) and made available to journalists in Benin.
According to him “The attention of Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo, popularly known as Akpakomiza, has been drawn to a fake story posted by literally isolated bloggers who are desperately seeking for relevance and patronage ahead the forthcoming off-cycle governorship election in Edo State.
“The fake story claimed that Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governorship candidate of APC is not registered to vote in Edo State.
“Clearly, we don’t need a soothsayer to reveal to us that the spurious claim came from the camp of the PDP that is grappling with credibility issue, and its governorship candidate whose primary election was nullified by a court of competent jurisdiction as widely reported by both broadcast and print media.
“Apparently, the PDP plan is to cause a distraction to the undisputed candidate of the APC in the cause of his ongoing grassroot campaign activities, hence the planting of the dummy and bogus news in obscure social media platforms.
“Be that as it may, I wish to rejig the failing memory of the originator(s) of the phoney claim, that the APC governorship candidate, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo was the Edo Central Senatorial Candidate of the APC in the February 2023 Presidential and National Assembly Election.
“During the aforesaid Presidential and Senatorial Election, Senator Monday Okpebholo voted at Udomi Primary School in Uwessan-Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.
“Furthermore, a simple check on INEC Verification Database shows that the APC governorship candidate is registered at Udomi Primary School, a marked screenshot of the page is herein attached to this Press Statement.
“We understand that the party is in a state of despair and despondent due to its self-inflicted political injury, hence the desperate resort to planting of fake story against the governorship candidate of APC.
“I wish to conclude by advising the PDP to manage their frustration in-house instead of ventilating it on the opposing party’s governorship candidate.
“The PDP brought upon itself the current political ordeal due to the party’s flagrant violation and notorious disregard for its constitution and rules of internal party’s engagements. For once, the party should take responsibility for its actions”.
