The general overseer and founder of God’s Greater Grace General Assembly, Intl Incorporated, Benin, Rev Sunny Akenbor, has admonished believers to use the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ to reconnect to him rather than being engrossed in materialism, saying Christ in them, the hope of glory.

He gave the advice while speaking on the topic “Reason for the season” at the church service/Nine Lessons and Carol, held in Benin.

Taking his bible verse from the book of Luke 2:13-14, Rev. Akenbor said, seeing churches celebrating the birth of Jesus with songs, which is now called Christmas Carol, dated back to the bible when the angels were praising God over the birth of Christ.

“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men”, Luke 2:13-14.

Speaking about the home as it relates to the celebration, Rev. Akenbor said wives should use this period to demonstrate that they are good home managers and should accept whatever has been given to them by their husbands and not to raise down the roofs, create unnecessary disaffection if what is given falls short of their expectations.

Akenbor said many homes are usually torn apart during this period due to the inability of the man (husband) to meet certain demands made by the woman.

He said such behaviour falls short of what is expected of a godly woman.

He said believers must constantly reminding themselves that the birth of Christ is what has brought joy and salvation to all men, therefore, they must turn away from their sins and maintain a cordial relationship with God at all times.
