The general overseer of God’s Greater Grace General Assembly Intl Incorporated, Benin, Rev. Sunny Akenbor has enjoined christian faithful to maximize whatever opportunity that avails itself rather than procrastinating.

He gave the charge during the Sunday Church Service in Benin City while speaking on the theme: “Maximizing opportunity”

Taking his bible readings from the book of Isaiah 12: 21-22, Ecclesiastes 9:11, Philippians 4: 10, Luke 19:1-4, Luke 23:39-43 and others, respectively, Rev. Akenbor said life successes are majorly not by labour and struggle but how one positions himself and utilizes the opportunity that comes his way.

Akenbor said Zacchaeus the shortest man according to the bible history having known that height would be his number one obstacle of seeing Jesus, decided to climb the Sycamore tree.

He also referenced the two armed robbers that were nailed side-by-side with Jesus on the cross and how one utilized his golden opportunity to his advantage while the other blew his chance of being with Jesus in Paradise away with his careless talk.

“One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”

“But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

“Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom

“Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise”, Luke 23:39-43.

Akenbor added that when there is a problem, there is also an opportunity to excel, noting that what is needed is the ability to recognize and maximize it.

He said while the COVID-19 pandemic that brought the entire globe to its kneels was devastating, Eric Yuan, the founder of Zoom, a video communications tool that went public in April 2019; was able to make a lot of money for himself just because he was able to use the prevailing circumstances for his advantage.

He maintained that when an opportunity meets with one preparedness, the resultant effect is a breakthrough adding that, believers must always get prepared and avail themselves for any opportunity that comes their way because time and chance still happen to man.

“I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favour to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all”, Ecclesiastes 9:11.
