Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has fired back at Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo following the governor’s remarks targeting Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally.
Davido’s response came on Friday when he shared what appeared to be Okpebholo’s West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result on his Instagram Stories a move widely interpreted as a subtle but pointed jab at the governor.
The singer attached no caption to the post, allowing the image to speak for itself.
The online exchange was sparked by comments made by Okpebholo while campaigning for the APC governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
During the rally, the Edo governor took a swipe at Ademola Adeleke, prompting a reaction from Davido, who is a close relative and prominent supporter of the Osun governor.
The development has since generated widespread reactions across social media, with many users interpreting Davido’s post as a direct response to Okpebholo’s criticism and another chapter in the growing political exchanges surrounding the Osun governorship race.
Addressing party supporters at the rally, the Edo governor criticised Adeleke’s leadership style and mocked his well-known passion for dancing.
“Before somebody signs paper, he will dance. Are you not tired? For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast, before he drinks tea, he will dance,” Okpebholo said.
He also urged Osun voters to accept financial inducements from political opponents but ultimately vote for the APC candidate in the August 15 governorship election.
Davido, who is Governor Ademola Adeleke’s nephew, has played an active role in his uncle’s re-election campaign, attending political rallies and recently appealing for a peaceful, credible, free and fair governorship election in the state.
