Barely over a week the Edo State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Tony Aziegbemi was kidnapped, his abductors have finally broken the silence.

It is said that they are demanding a staggering sum of N500 million as ransom to release him to his family members.

It would be recalled that Aziegbemi was abducted by some gunmen in a commando-like style at about 11 pm on Friday, 15 March, just few metres to his GRA residence in Benin after attending a political meeting at the State Government House.

A family source who preferred anonymity, revealed this on Sunday to newsmen in Benin.

The source said that the kidnappers have made contact with his family members on Friday.

This is even as he disclosed that the kidnappers demanded the sum of N500 million as ransom to free Aziegbemi.

When contacted, the state police command image maker, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the police were not aware of the ransom demanded.

“I am not aware of any ransom demand. I can only confirm What I am aware of,” Nwabuzor added.
