Coordinator, Edo Internally Displaced Persons Camp, Uhogua in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho has appealed to well meaning Nigerians to come to their aid in the provision of food items, school fees for students and other consumables for the inmates.
Pastor Folorunsho made the appeal in an interview with our Correspondent who visited the camp to observe how they were fairing ahead of the Easter celebration.
He appealed to well meaning Nigerians to come to their aid in the provision of food items, school fees for pupils and students with other consumables.
According to him ,”We thank God for some persons despite their challenges, still have time to spare and sacrifice.
“Despite all the challenges we are facing here, some members of the host community, still come here to look for food to eat.
“Honestly, I must tell you, people are suffering. Just yesterday, we had over eight persons from the host communities who came here to look for food to eat.
“We are well over three thousands despite still trying to limit people here , there are some cases you can’t overlook”, Folorunsho said.
On her part, one of the supervisor of the camp, Pastor Evelyn Omigie, said the challenges currently bedeviling the IDP Camp include lack of enough food stuffs
and other consumables.
“I am calling on well meaning Nigerians to please come support us, we need foodstuffs of all kinds as the feeding of this children has drastically reduced.
“We don’t have food, because it’s whatever we have, that is what we cook for them.
“We need assistance, we need scholarship for the children as we don’t want any child to be a dropped out.
“Some of our teachers have stopped coming to teach, because we have stopped paying them salaries.
“We want people that can help us with solar boreholes, solar lights, we need more hostels in order to decongest the existing hotels among others” Omigie said
The internally Displaced Persons, IDP Camp in Uhogua, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo state has over three thousands five hundred internally displaced persons especially from the Boko Haram ravaged territories of the North Eastern part of Nigeria.
The IDP camp had last year, produced some first class graduates of various universities across the country.
