The lawmaker representing Orhionmwon South Constituency in Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Bright Iyamu has called on his supporters and members of his constituency to maintain peace in the face of provocations, noting that the issues surrounding his suspension will soon be settled peacefully.
The lawmaker who is making his first reaction to the suspension slammed on him and Hon. Donald Okogbe (PDP Akoko-Edo II) and Adeh Isibor (APC Esan North-East Constituency I) on Monday 6th May 2024.
According to a statement from the Office of the Lawmaker on Tuesday, Hon. Iyamu said ” I had no motive to call for the impeachment of the Speaker, nor the intentions to impugn the integrity of the house”.
Iyamu reassured his constituency and supporters that normalcy will be restored soon to the Edo State House of Assembly.
Recall, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku suspended three members for allegedly plotting to effect a change of leadership in the house.
The suspended lawmakers are two Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members and one All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain.
