Edo Deputy Governor Impeachment Saga: Panel Commences Sitting In Benin

The seven-man panel set up to investigate the alleged misconduct leveled against the Edo State deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, has commenced sitting in Benin.

The panel is headed by Hon. Justice S.A. Omonua (retd.) with six other members. All members are currently on sit.

Recall that the Majority Leader, Charity Aiguobarueghian, announced impeachment notice during plenary, and said the petition dated March 5, was signed by 21 out of the 24 members against the deputy governor.

Recall also that the panel is to look into the petitions of perjury and revealing of government secrets

The said Panel of seven persons comprised the following persons:

Hon. Justice S.A. Omonua (Rtd.) – Chairman, Prof. Theresa Akpoghome, Member, Mr. Oghogho Ayodele Oviasu, Member, Surv. Dr. Andrew Oliha Member.

Others are Mr. Idris Abdulkareen, Member, President Aigbokhian Esq.

and Mariam Erakhoba Ilavbare Esq., Member.
