Edo Govt. Ranks Ovia North East Council Boss High For Keying Into Keeping Edo Clean Initiative

Edo State government has ranked the Ovia North East council boss, Mr. Collins Osamede Ogbewe high for keying into the keeping Edo Clean Initiative by taking the lead in environmental sanitation.

The Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Arc. Joshua Omokhodion, gave the commendation when he joined the council boss to monitor the environmental exercise across the council.

Describing the exercise as massive and worthy of commendation, the Commissioner noted that the state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki is very passionate about keeping the state clean and green.

He said the state governor will be very impress to see that one of his council’s chairmen is taking the lead in ensuring that the state is clean.

On his part, the Local Government Chairman, Collins Osamede Ogbewe noted that with the way the Governor is passionate about keeping the state clean, it is only but imperative that all hands must be on the deck to ensure that the state is clean and green while stressing that environmental sanitation is everybody’s business.

He also use the opportunity to appeal to the people of the local government area to join hands with the state government in ensuring a clean and greener Edo.

Ogbewe however warned offenders to desist from illegal dumping of waste just as he said the Environmental Officers are stationed across the local government area and won’t spare anyone indulging in such act.

The Council Boss also revealed that the sensitization exercise which includes desilting and clearing of gutters across the council, clearing of roadsides, cleaning of markets, public space and environs among others will be a continuous exercise.
