The governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP) Edo State, Barr. Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata has dropped his former running mate, Mrs Alufokhai Oluyinka Faith for his fellow lawyer, Prince Kadiri Yussuf Asamah (SAN) for the September 21 governorship election in the state.

The Edo State chairman of LP, Mr. Kelly Ogbaloi, who confirmed the choice of Prince Asamah, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) said the decision was taken at a meeting in Benin weekend.

Mr. Ogbaloi said that Mrs. Oluyinka Alufohai from Owan West Local Government Area, who was earlier announced as running mate to Akpata, was dropped as she was a place holder.

The Edo LP chairman cleared the air on the insinuations that Mrs. Alufohai was dropped over discrepancies in her date of birth and the year she finished secondary school in the form EC28, she submitted to the Independent National Electoral (INEC).

“Labour Party has ratify the choice of Barrister Asamah Kadiri, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) from Auchi as running mate to our candidate, Barrister Olumide Akpata. Mrs. Oluyinka Alufohai was a place holder.

“We ratified Prince Kadiri yesterday (Sunday) at a meeting in Benin.

” Barrister Kadiri is Labour Party running mate in the September 21 governorship election”, Ogbaloi added.

Ogbaloi said that the party will soon formally present the running mate to Edo State people at a ceremony, pointing out that the party is ever ready to win the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Prince Asamah is from the Auchi royal family and holds the distinguished record of being the first member of the royal family to be honoured with the prestigious SAN title.
