A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP) in Edo Central, Chief Friday Ibadin has distanced himself from the purported endorsement and collapsing of the Obidient Movement structure for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo.

He disclosed this while reacting to the video making the rounds on the various social media platforms, claiming that he has made plans to join the PDP in the state, therefore, he has collapsed the structure for the PDP.

Setting the record straight, Ibadin said that he only joined the former speaker of the state house of assembly to receive him (Asue Ighodalo) when he (Asue Ighodalo) came visiting and not an endorsement.

Chief Ibadin, while categorically stating that he remains vibrant member of the Labour

Party, a follower of the Obidient Movement, said that as a host, he only welcomed his in-law,

Rt.Hon.Itulah and the unscheduled visit of Asue also of the Esan extraction in what he termed“unexpected visit and homecoming”,while in a meeting with some of his party leaders.

While distancing himself further, he said that he cannot be lured into anti-party activities and reaffirmed that he remains an astute devotee to Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata as LP’

gubernatorial candidate and the people’s choice, whose victory at the primaries was not mar

with fights and anti-party activities as witnessed in PDP and other parties that have failed the Edo people over the years.

Ibadin said that, he wondered why the Asue-led delegation who accompanied his

in-law to visit him, could not differentiate between a visit in company of Hon.Itulah and the word“decamp or endorsement”,and charged all to disassociate themselves from the evil

manipulation of PDP which the party and its members are known for.

Speaking, the coordinator of an Obidient movement in Esanland, Onohinosen Ibhafidon, queried the lies being used as political tool by PDP to show to Edolites that the Obidients have a crack in their United movement for Olumde Osaigbovo Akpata, and stated that the Obidients are

above ethnic politics but with eyes focused on good governance.

He said further that PDP should focus on ways to sell their candidate rather than

lies and deceit as seen in what they attempted with Chief Ibadin,“as the Edolites are wiser

and only want good and inclusive governance that can deliver on their promises unlike what

Nigerians are currently experiencing in the hands of APC”

Confirming the unity of the Obidient Movement in the state, and their massive support for the

Edo State gubernatorial candidate, Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata, Peter Obi, he charged and enjoined all lovers of good governance, as being witnessed in Abia State, to collapse all

support groups, individua interests to the LP flag bearer,“ because l believe in the antecedents of Olumide Akpata to deliver on his promises and to make us proud”.
