The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Dr. Festus Alenkhe has eulogized practicing journalists in the state for sticking to ethical standards in their reportage before, during and after the just concluded governorship election in the state.
Alenkhe gave the praises at the 3rd edition of the annual picnic event organised by the leadership of the union.
He added that the annual picnic event is aimed at gathering journalists across the state together to dance, drink, engaged in swimming, sporting activities and unwind among themselves.
While lauding journalists for balancing their stories before, during and after the Edo governorship election as no single litigation was brought against any journalists in the state, Dr. Alenkhe admonished members of the pen profession to remain apolitical in carrying out their daily work to objectively inform the public.
He appealed for the sustanence of the laudable projects put in place by him and other members of the State Executive Committee (SEC) after his tenure in office as the chairman of Edo NUJ.
He noted that Edo State Council would soon be going into its triennial election and advised all concerned parties to see it as a family affair, go about it with love and peace which has been existing since the inception of this present administration of NUJ in the state.
On her part, the General Manager, Bronze FM, Benin and NUJ National Trustee, Zone F, Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde who conveyed the message of the president of NUJ, Dr. Chris Isiguzor, commended Dr. Festus Alenkhe led administration for giving journalists in Edo State the opportunity to get together and socialised in peace and love.
The event was climaxed with various games including swimming.
