The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo has said though the state at the moment is not running the government at a high cost due to the deployment of technology in running its affairs, yet it will continue to run it at a very low cost.
He said this at a town hall meeting during the official presentation of his manifesto, “The Pathway to Prosperity for All” to Edo people in Benin.
“It is the digitalization of the mechanism of the Edo State government that makes it easy for the cost of governance to come down.
“And we will continue to work on the cost of governance. One of the things I found in Edo State, I don’t think Edo State has a superfluous ministries.
“Every ministry and agency is fixed for its purpose. I don’t think it is important for us to do away with those agencies, it is reducing the cost of running those agencies.
“And we will continue to reduce the cost of running those agencies. We will be efficient, we will be effective and we will be visionary during the process”, Ighodalo said.
The governorship candidate further blamed the shootings at the Benin airport that led to the death of a police officer on poor parental upbringings of the perpetrators.
He added that though parenting is a very difficult task but the parents must try harder so that the state can be safe for everyone to live in.
