The Edo State Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Labour Party (LP)Rt. Hon. Mrs. Elizabeth Ativie, has sworn in chairmen and secretaries in the 18 local government areas of the state with the charge to work for the victory of the party in the forthcoming governorship election in the state
The swearing-in ceremony which has in attendance a member of the House Of Representatives for Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency, Hon. Murphy Osaro-Omoruyi was conducted in Benin City on the directive of the national secretariat of the party chaired by Julius Abure.
Inaugurating the newly elected chairmen, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. Ativie said the national secretariat of the party dissolved the previous executive due to the expiration of their tenure and consequently constituted a new executive.
She said the local government chairmen and their secretaries are to midwife a fresh election to usher in new executive in a congress that will be held soon across the state.
She urged the new local government leadership to put in place measures that will ensure victory for the party during the September 21, 2024 governorship election in the state with Barrister Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata as the party’s flag bearer.
Hon. Mrs. Ativie urged members of the public to disregard any action of the former executive of the party led by Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi as their tenure ended in April, 2024 with her as the new LP chairman in Edo state.
Speaking, the member Representing Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Murphy Osaro Omoruyi congratulated the new local government leadership of the LP and urged them to work in unity to achieve victory.
Hon. Omoruyi described Rt. Hon Ativie as a fearless and result oriented politician that will take Labour Party to a higher level.
The State Secretary of the party, Hon. Oses Eromosele and the three senatorial vice chairmen of the party, Cosmas lrabor, Edo Central, Jolly lsokpeyi Edo North and Uwagie Odigie, Edo South jointly renewed their support for the Abure-led Labour Party at the national level.
The chairmen and secretaries of the party had earlier subscribed to their oath of office with a promise to remain dedicated and committed to the party at both local, state and national levels.
The State Legal Adviser, Barrister A. M. I. Imakhu, the state woman leader, Mrs. lsoken Tongo and the Youth Leader, Mr. Ken Omusi assured that Labour Party will win the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State and urged all members of the party to be dedicated to the party.
Meanwhile, Edo State L P has lifted the suspension order placed on 308 members of the party in the state.
In a statement, the chairman of the party, called on those whose suspension has just been lifted to fuse into the party towards ensuring victory for the party in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo state come September, 21, 2024.
