The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has refuted a media report attributing a statement to the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Edo State Command, claiming that a woman who allegedly tore her husband’s international passport was merely creating a skit.

Recall that Mrs. Igiebor, mother of three tore her husband’s international passport in Lagos Airport saying that, family issue compelled her to carry out her action and which has earned her a lot of backlash across the country.

In a statement signed by the union’s Chairman, Festus Alenkhe, and Secretary, Andy Egbon, the NUJ clarified that the Comptroller’s words were taken out of context.

“In reality, the Comptroller clarified that the lady in question is under investigation by the Nigeria Immigration Service, and the findings will be made public at the appropriate time”, the statement said.

The NUJ urged the public to disregard the misleading report and apologized to the Nigeria Immigration Service for any embarrassment the publication may have caused.
