The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Legacy Group in Edo State, today went spiritual over the next line of action to be taken by them before the governorship election, coming up on September 21, 2024 in the state.

The factional PDP who claimed to be the aborigines of the party also decried their high level of marginalization by the state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki who they said, they helped to come to power the second time when the All Progressives Congress (APC) where he served his first tenure, refuse him the ticket.

Leading the prayer session, the immediate past House of Representatives member, representing Oredo Federal Constituency, Hon Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, said the prayer became necessary because they don’t want to make a similar mistake they have earlier made by supporting Godwin Obaseki.

They prayed that God should direct them in any decisions they shall take.

Ogbeide-Ihama who said he regretted giving his governorship ticket to Obaseki and personally sticking out his neck for him, said that the governor used them and dumped them after getting what he wanted.

He said the governor didn’t consider them to be fit for any positions and that, such will never repeat itself again.

He said that, today’s meeting called, is for the PDP Legacy Group in the seven Local Government Areas that make up the Edo South Senatorial District, to come together to x-ray how much they have faired during the four years under the current government.

The gathering at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre, Benin, gave the leaders in the seven local government areas the opportunity to express their minds about the current governor and they all complained of outright marginalization.

Ogbeide-Ihama however said that they still have a little patience for the governor to reach out to them for dialogue and make amend before they finally take their decision.
