The Acting Vice Chancellor, Edo University Iyamoh, Prof. Dawood Egbefo, has disclosed that the institution would be bestowing an award of honorary degrees on Adams Oshiomhole and Vincent Agenmomen, Chairman, Freedom Group.
He said that the award is in recognition of their illustrious careers and contributions to the development of our dear country.
Prof Egbefo disclosed this during the press conference to mark the 6th convocation ceremony of the institution scheduled for Feb. 27, 2025
The Acting VC, while speaking ahead of the forthcoming event in the institution, said that 430 students would be graduating at its 6th convocation with 14 graduating with First Class degrees while 140 graduands will receive various Post Graduate Degree including 20 with the prestigious Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in different fields.
Rating the institution, he said that since inception, the university has consistently operated with a stable academic calendar ensuring that students graduate on schedule time despite unforeseen challenges such as COVID 19 pandemic.
Prof Egbefo said that the institution had recorded academic successes with the nursing students professional exam rated 100 percent while faculty of law 500 level students is finalised in compliance with Law School schedule procedures to ensure prompt graduation opportunities.
He said the university has also received accreditation for M.Sc Accounting and Master in Public Administration programmes and several others.
Speaking on the easy learning process on campus, he said the Edo State Government has installed optic fibre cable broadband across its campuses for internet services.
He said that the installation of the broadband internet services around the campuses was to provide fast transmission of data to the academics, staff members and students.
According to him, “Provision of internet is a crucial part of the structure of an institution of higher learning across the world” he stated.
Prof Egbefo reiterated that the university’s core mission of providing world class education to curb educational tourism in the state and Nigeria adding that government vision of making the university a centre of excellence is well maintained.
