Liverpool have finally reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign Ronald Araújo on loan, with the deal expected to be completed this weekend.
The 27-year-old Uruguay international is set to join the Reds on a straight loan deal, adding significant experience and defensive quality to Liverpool’s squad.
Araújo recently committed his future to Barcelona, renewing his contract with the Catalan giants last year and extending his stay at the club until 2031.
The move to Anfield would now see the highly-rated centre-back temporarily leave Barcelona to take on a new challenge in the Premier League.
However, the Uruguay international endured a difficult campaign last season and was subsequently granted an extended leave from the team.
Liverpool are now set to provide Araujo with a fresh opportunity as he looks to regain his form and establish himself at the Premier League club.
Recall that Araujo joined Barcelona from Uruguayan side, Boston River in 2018, before being promoted to the first team in 2019.
