Former Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Benin branch, Mr Douglas Ogbankwa, today, appeared before Justice Ede Ikponmwonba of a Benin High Court over a case bordering on alleged stealing of a stabilizer belonging to one Sandra Palmer-Kelvin.
Earlier at the court, when the case was mentioned, one of the counsels to the defendant, Mr Emmanuel Usoh appealed to the court to give them time to resolve the issues.
According to him, they were already into the matter and appealed to the court for time.
Among the defendant counsels were former Chief Registrar, Mr Hilary Enamaku, NBA Benin branch Chairman, Mr Nosa Edo Osagie
The prosecuting Counsel, Mr Orobosa Okunbor however did not oppose to the defendant’s counsel application.
Ogbankwa is facing five count charge bordering on conspiracy to commit felony, forcible entry, wilful damage, stealing, forcefully eject as well as aiding and abetting forceful ejection.
According to the prosecution, Ogbankwa and others now at large in the month of January, 2023 at 2nd Ugbor road, GRA Benin within judicial Division did damage door keys belonging to one Sandra Palmer-Kelvin.
Ogbankwa did steal one stabilizer belonging to Palmer-Kelvin and also forcefully ejected Sandra Palmer-Kelvin from her matrimonial home
The offences are punishable under sections 412, 56(1), 353, 294(1)of the Criminal Law of Edo state 2022 and section 14(3) of violence against persons Prohibition law of Edo state 2021.
Justice Ikponmwonba subsequently adjourned the case till July 6, 2024 for plea and hearing
