Fire Razes ITV/ Radio, Benin

Fire has razed the Independent Television and Radio station (ITV), Benin.

It was learnt that the fire broke out in one of the administrative blocks at about 2:30pm and spread to other sections of the buildings, causing substantial damage.

The General Manager of the station, Pastor Dan Omosuzi and some other staff who witnessed the incident, said they heard a cracking sound of fire from one of the rooms in the building and before they knew what was happening, smoke had enveloped everywhere.

Speaking also, the Managing Director of the station, Engr. Elvis Obaseki said though the fire incident caused substantial damage to the station’s property, he was grateful to God that no lives was lost.

Neighbours and residents of Iguosa and Oluku who caught wind of the incident trooped out to sympathize with the media outfit.

It however took the intervention of UNIBEN, Edo State and Federal Fire Services to put out the fire.
