The general overseer and founder, God’s Greater Grace General Assembly Intl Incorporated, Benin, Rev Sunny Akenbor has harped on the need for believers to be actively committed to their callings in God’s veinyard, saying that, He only rewards faithfulness in the executions of what they have been called to do and not the toga of the positions they occupy.

He disclosed this while speaking on the topic:”Discovering your calling in the ministry”

Rev. Akenbor said that the church is likened to the human body which has many parts but each functions optimally for the generality of all and none lording it over the other.

Akenbor, reading from the book 1 Corinthians 12:12–29, said God Himself gave His children different gifts according to their capacities and these gifts are to be used to enhance the growth of the church and that each and everyone must identify his area of specialty (callings) and utilize it to its fullest to the glory of God.

According to him quoting from the book of 1 Corinthians 12:12-29 “The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and on those parts of the body that we think less honourable we bestow the greater honour, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, which our more presentable parts do not require.

“But God has so composed the body, giving greater honour to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.

“If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honoured, all rejoice together.

“Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

“And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues”.

He said though the above mentioned maybe different but they all help to enhance the work of God and groom the church.

He added that it is an aberration for a fish which its natural habitat is the water where it is meant to swim is now learning how to fly like the birds in the sky, therefore as a believer, it is important to do a thorough soul searching in order to know the area where one has been called to serve noting that, there is nobody without a God given gift or talent and that the responsibility lies on one to discover it and use it to the glory of God.

While alluding to Tabitha also known as Dorcas in the bible, the general overseer of the church said she discovered her area of strength, which is in giving and she utilized it to the fullest to the glory of God.

He said everyone cannot function in that same direction, so the need of self-discovery.

He however maintained that nobody is useless in the house of God and that they all should ask God to show them the areas where they all have been called to contribute their quota to the edification of the body of Christ adding that God only respects, reward faithfulness and dedication to ones duty/calling and not an occupier of an office or title holders.
