Gunmen have invaded the house of the Edo State Security Network (ESSN) Commander of Sakponba axis, Mr. Stanley Aigbe, killing his security dog and looting his property in Evbuomomah Community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state.

Stating how he escaped the assassination attempts by a stroke of luck in Benin, the ESSN Commander Mr. Stanley Aigbe accused one Inspector Terry, Eghosa and others of masterminding the attack on his residence.

According to him “My wife called me after 1:00 o’clock on August 5, 2025 that hoodlums have attacked my house and that they were being molested. I called control room and informed them that my house in Evbuomonmah Community is under attack.

“About 5am I sent my brother to my house, he was beaten mercilessly and forced to transfer money to their account.

“Trouble started on June 28, 2024 when I arrested a criminal by named Austin, a civilian with police guns and ammunition which he was using to disturb my Area of Responsibility (AOR).

“He is the Personal Assistant, Chief Security Officer to to the said Inspector Terry.

“The Austin killed one of my operatives and he confessed one of his partners in crime. We handed him over to police. They charged him and he was remanded in prison custody.

“Ever since the arrest of Austin, the said Inspector Terry has been threatening to kill me. About 1:00am on August 5, 2024, the said Inspector Terry and his group of thugs armed with guns and other dangerous weapons invaded my house with the intent to kill me but I was not at home.

“They met my wife and children, beat them up mercilessly, gunned down my security dog and destroyed property.

“The police have never invited me for any allegations or petition against me to attract such attack on my house”, Aigbe said.

He said when they did not see him to kill at home, they vent their anger on his dog by killing it and also assaulting his members of his family.

The ESSN Commander who has fled his home for safety, said that the incident has been reported to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 5 headquarters, Benin and Edo State Commissioner of Police for necessary action.

Contacted, the Public Relations Officer, Zone 5, DSP Tijani Momoh stated that the matter is already before the AIG, as investigation had begun.

Contacting the State Coordinator of the ESSN Colonel Kola Omomian (rtd), on the action of his security outfit in solving the problem and ensuring the safety of one of his commanders who is under attack, he said “please go to the police, go and ask police your questions, he has not come to officially brief me of what happened”.

Meanwhile, at press time, neither authorities of the police nor ESSN have yet to visit the scene where their senior operative was attacked and his family chased away from his home.

The incident has heightened security concerns among ESSN operatives in the area, prompting calls for increased protection for security personnel and their families.
