The Managing Director of Edo State Investment Promotion Office (ESIPO)-Ease of Doing Business and Secretary EoDB Council, Mr. Kelvin Uwaibi has said his office through the State government is poised to giving the needed support to the women-led Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) to thrive in the state in this hard time of the nation’s economy.
He gave the assurance during the “Women MSMEs Market Access Barriers Engagement” held in Benin.
Mr. Uwaibi, represented by Mr. Abdul-Kadir Abdullah, Team Lead, Investment Promotion and Global Outreach, said ESIPO is not only a resource for addressing their questions and concerns but actively welcomes their recommendations on how to further streamline the ease of doing business in the state.
Uwaibi added that the collaborative approach underscores ESIPO’s dedication to fostering a business environment that propels women entrepreneurs forward.
According to him, “The Ease of Doing Business Council has been established to identify and address challenges faced by businesses, the council comprises heads of relevant government ministries.
“MSME Council has also been approved by the governor. This council specifically caters to the needs of all MSMEs, including those led by women.
“Recognizing the need for simplified procedures, the state is actively developing a one-stop shop to facilitate a smoother business experience.
“We are conducting Edo State Business Enabling Environment Survey to gather valuable feedback that will directly inform policy formulation
“We are encouraging you to participate. We are open to receive recommendations. We are ready to push as far as it is to improve the business environment.”
Earlier, Mr. Nosa Obayuwana, the Edo State coordinator for the GIZ SEDIN Programme, while stating the purpose of the event, said it helps to identify and understand the barriers with the aims of developing an effective strategies to empowering women’s MSMEs and expand their market reach.
He also said it brought together key stakeholders to create a united front in addressing the unique market access challenges faced by women MSMEs.
Mr Obayuwana maintained that this collaborative effort, spearheaded by GIZ and ESIPO, demonstrates a strong commitment to equipping women MSMEs with the tools and resources they needed to thrive, gained insights into support services offered by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Equipment Leasing Association of Nigeria and Fiducial, a financial service provider.
