An abducted member of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), Yusuf Kazim, has broken forth from the dragnet of his abductors after disarming them of their AK-47 rifle.

‎It was learnt that the operative also rescued two other victims from the grips of his kidnappers.

‎Kazim, who operates in Edo North Senatorial District, was said to have been ambushed while driving into his compound at Aya-Iyamo in Etsako West Local Government Area.

‎The gunmen took him at a gunpoint and took him into a nearby forest.

‎While in their custody, he reportedly met two other abductees—Caleb Yusuf, 25, and Himach Suleiman who had been held captive after their families failed to meet ransom demands.

‎In a twist of events, Kazim was said to have engaged the kidnappers in a struggle and disarmed them of their AK-47 rifle.

‎The assailants however fled the scene, leaving their weapons behind.

‎The ESSC operative, who reportedly sustained severe injuries during the encounter, however escaped alongside the two other victims.

‎The Deputy Corps Commander of the ESSC, Richard Balogun, who confirmed the incident, commended Kazim’s bravery and resilience, adding that “he is in critical condition and receiving treatment at the hospital.”

‎Balogun prayed for his speedy recovery, noting that the kidnappers inflicted serious injuries on him before fleeing.

‎He said that the case has been handed over to the police for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the suspects.
