If the final year students of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, from the Faculty of Arts, (Department of Mass Communication, English and History and International Studies) were told that they would be spending extra time in that ivory tower, they would have not believed it but this is the stark reality.
This is following the decision of the management of the institution to cancel their final year examinations for violating a laid down order prior to their exams.
Newstracktoday reports that the graduating students from the affected Departments, were involved in car display, use of sirens, spraying of money, shouting and hooting within the campus and also blocking the access roads leading in and out of the University.
In a statement signed by the Acting Registrar Ephraim Ikharchon Isiraojie, made available to Journalists through the Principal Assistant Registrar Information/Public Relations and Protocol Mike Ade Aladenika, in Benin City, said the above statement is for the information of the Dean, Faculty of Arts, affected Heads of Department and student
The statement reads: “The University Management in an emergency meeting, held today Wednesday, 29° January, 2025, has decided to invoke the extant laws on wild jubilation/celebration, thereby cancelling all the final year examinations written on Wednesday, 29” January, 2025, including but not limited to the following: ELS41I; MAC 414; IIIS416…
“The University Management shall decide in due course when such cancelled examinations shall be rescheduled.
“The Dean, Faculty of Arts and all affected Heads of Department, are hereby directed to see the Acting Vice-Chancellor immediately.
“This should serve as a deterrent to all graduating students who are yet to complete their final year examinations”.
