The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Edo State, has appealed for a peaceful protest as it commences today and urged the protesters to ensure that public properties built by tax payers money are not destroyed.

The appeal was contained in a press statement signed by the Edo State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Adesuwa Louisa Ehimuan and made available to Journalists in Benin City.

Comrade Adesuwa Ehimuan said they should heed to patience and calm, noting that history has shown that protests can sometimes be hijacked by those with malicious intentions, leading to unintended consequences that harm the very people they tend to help.

According to Comrade Adesuwa Ehimuan “Let’s come up with constructive suggestions and ideas on how we can collectively move our nation forward. This is a time for unity, not division.

“Let us trust in our leaders and believe that they have the best interests of the Nigerian people at heart” Ehimuan said.

She continued: “As we look to the future, let us also pray for our leaders and our government, that God may do a transformative work in their hearts and guide them to make decisions that will truly benefit all Nigerians.

“May this August bring us one step closer to the Nigeria of our dreams”, Ehimuan prayed.
