Newstracktoday reports that Ikedi Ohakim was the Governor of Imo State from 29 May 2007 to 29 May 2011.
He won the April 2007 election on the platform of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) before switching to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2009.
He served as the 4th democratically elected governor of the state.
He also felicitated with the government and people of the state on the occasion, describing the Golden Jubilee as a moment for reflection, gratitude and renewed commitment to the ideals that shaped the state’s creation.
In a congratulatory message to mark the feat, Ohakim said that over the past five decades, Imo State has produced outstanding individuals who have distinguished themselves in governance, education, commerce, culture, sports and public service, contributing meaningfully to national development.
He paid tribute to the founding leaders and citizens whose sacrifices laid the foundation of the state, often under challenging circumstances.
The former governor lauded the people-centred approach of the current administration under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Expressing confidence in the resilience and ingenuity of Ndi Imo at home and in the diaspora, he added that the Golden Jubilee should serve as a catalyst for renewed hope and optimism, while wishing the state continued peace, progress and prosperity.
