Edo State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon, Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku has urged Nigerians to remember other women at the various Internally Displaced Camps (IDPs) across the country as they mark the International Women’s Day.

He also commended them for being unique, key drivers in nation-building and development both at the home front, private enterprises, as well as in government circles.

He said this while joining women in Edo State state and all over the country to celebrate International Women’s Day in Benin City.

“Women in society are unique and key drivers in nation-building and development both at the home front, private enterprises, as well as in government circles.

“The United Nation has designated this year’s theme as “Invest in women” thus bearing in mind that with more investments in our women, we are accelerating progress with a major focus on addressing marginalization and economic dis-empowerment.

“Today, we celebrate the incredible achievements and contributions of women all around the world.

“Let us honour the strength, resilience, and talent of women who continuously break barriers and redefine what is possible”, Agbebaku said.

He reiterated that as we celebrate the International Women’s Day, we should remember to reach out to all women grappling with economic hardship as the Nation faces economic and security challenges.

According to him “let us remember women in areas of dispute and IDP camps, telling them that there’s renewed hope as we accelerate progress.

“It is a reminder of the progress we have made towards gender equality, but also a call to action to keep working towards a more inclusive and equitable world.

“Together, we can create a future where every woman and girl have the opportunity to thrive and be heard.

“Today and every day, let’s celebrate, support, and empower women everywhere.” As we “INSPIRE INCLUSION”

“Happy International Women’s Day!”, Agbebaku said
