Member representing Egor/Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency, on the platform of the Labour Party (LP), Murphy Osaro Omoruyi, has decamped to the African Democratic Congress (ADC)

He alleged that the non implementation of the 2025 budget by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) forced him to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) instead of the APC.

He made the allegation while speaking with journalists in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

Murphy Osaro Omoruyi was the last man standing in the Labour Party in Edo State before he finally joined the ADC.

Mr. Omoruyi said besides the non implementation of the budget, hunger and starvation that have stared Nigerians in the face were also compelling factors.

“The people are not happy because there is hunger in the land. Serious hunger. They are not happy because our roads are not motorable.

“We can hardly travel from one point to the other. So, they are not happy for so many reasons. The current government has made life very difficult for our people.

“Can you believe that last year, 2025, no budget was executed in this country in Nigeria. The budget of 2025 was not touched at all. So, if a a government that does that fail to even implement a whole year budget, I mean zero. So, tell me, how do you expect the people to feel the part of the third tiers of government?

“So, like minded Nigerians came together and said, “No, we have to rescue Nigeria from the hands of this government.” And that was the reason for the ADC coalition.

“And me as a Rep of the people, I decided to pitch tent with my people in the government. Their cry is my cry. So, I have pitched my tent with them. They want to remove this government in 2027 and that’s where I stand”, Omoruyi said.

Omoruyi while speaking on while he decamped from the LP, he said it was due to the intractable crises rocking the party.

He went further to pledge his full commitment to working with his new found party and its leadership to strengthen the nation’s democratic institution and ensure that the voices of the ordinary Nigerians are heard and respected.
