The new Pope for the Roman Catholic church has been named.
He is Pope Leo XIV.
He is the first American to have been elected Pope.
This happened after the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel witnessed the appearance of white smoke from the chimney indicating the election of a new Pope
Recall that 133 Cardinals entered Vatican’s Sistine Chapel on the 7th of May to elect a new pope.
Recall also that eligible cardinals under the age of 80 voted to elect a successor to Pope Francis, who died on Easter Monday at the age of 88.
The new Pope is going to be the 267th leader of the Roman Catholic Church.
