Mercy Johnson Gets Edo Job

Top Nollywood star, Mercy Johnson Okojie has been appointed Special Adviser (SA) on Public Engagement and Advocacy by the Edo State Government.

The appointment was approved by the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, as part of efforts to strengthen communication between government and the people.

According to an official statement, Mercy Johnson Okojie’s role will focus on public communication, citizens’ engagement, and advocacy programmes across the state.

The government said that her widespread popularity and long-standing influence in the entertainment industry make her well positioned to connect policies with grassroots communities.

The actress, 41, whose husband is the Honourable member representing Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives (Hon. Prince Henry Odianosen Okojie (often referred to as Odi Okojie) has spent nearly two decades in Nollywood.

She has featured in hundreds of films and she expected to use her platform to promote government initiatives and encourage public participation in governance.

This development reflects a growing trend of involving respected public figures in governance to improve trust and public awareness.
