The General Overseer and Founder of God’s Greater Grace General Assembly (GGGGA) International Incorporated, Benin, Rev. Sunny Akenbor, has once again encouraged believers in Christ, reminding them that some obstacles serve as divine pathways to God’s miracles.
He gave the words of encouragement while speaking on the topic: “And God shows up” during the Sunday church service in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Rev. Akenbor, while reading from 1 Kings 17:10–14, narrated the account of a woman who was facing severe food scarcity.
At the height of her hardship, a man appeared and requested a meal from her. Despite her lack, she chose to obey, and that act of obedience became the turning point of her life.
Consequently, the woman who had once been ravaged by hunger became a channel of abundance, distributing wealth and resources to others.
“So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
“And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
“And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
“And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
“For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth”, 1 Kings 17:10-14.
Akenbor said in the journey of life, there are bends and bumps but their presence do not mark the end of the road, therefore, they must have to press on because God Himself will definitely show up and when He does, there abound miracles and rejuvenations in all facets of life.
The clergyman noted further that sacrifice/generosity, vows and prayers are some of the catalysts that drive God into actions in a man’s life.
He said typical example was Abraham whose act of generosity flung the door of fruitfulness opened having lived with his wife, Sarah for many years without a child.
The founder of the church said Abraham entertained angels unknowingly to him and that, that signaled a turning point that birthed Isaac.
He noted that Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist and her husband, Zechariah, lived a devoted life before God and they were blessed with a child (John the Baptist).
Also mentioning was Hannah, the mother of Samuel adding that, they all fused the aforementioned, sacrifice/hospitality, vows and prayers into their daily lives and all their obstacles became sources of miracles to them.
He urged members to embrace the act of generosity as stinginess can deprive them of so many blessings either from God or from man.
He also appealed to members that they should not allow the problems and worries of this present days to take them away from God rather they should draw them closer to Him for He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above what they can ever imagined.
He also offered prayers for lasting peace and security in the nation, expressing hope that it would overcome the challenges it is currently facing and emerge stronger.
