Ossiomo Power Company, Ologbo, Edo State, has announced plans to commence contempt of court proceedings against the Chinese firm, Jiangsu Communication Clean Energy Technology Co. Ltd. (CCETC), alleging repeated and deliberate violations of valid court orders.
In a press statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Ralph Okhiria, and made available to journalists in Benin City, the company accused CCETC of persistently flouting subsisting orders issued by both the Federal High Court in Abuja and the Edo State High Court in Benin City.
According to the statement, despite the explicit directives of the courts, the Chinese firm has allegedly continued to engage in actions that Ossiomo Power described as unlawful, provocative, and calculated to undermine the authority of the judiciary.
The company said the alleged persistent disregard for the courts’ directives has left it with no option but to initiate contempt proceedings against CCETC, stressing that the move is aimed at protecting the integrity of the judicial process and ensuring respect for the rule of law.
The statement stated that CCETC and Ossiomo Power Company are in the federal high court Abuja and the Edo State high court Benin City, which had made orders for status quo ante.
Ossiomo Power Company further disclosed that despite the court orders, CCETC has formed the habit of disobeying the court orders, hence as a disciplined and law abiding entity, the Ossiomo Power Company have decided to drag CCETC to courts for violating their orders.
According to the statement, “Ossiomo Power Company and its affiliates hereby bring to the attention of the public of the continued illegal activities of Jiangsu Communication Clean Energy Technology Co. Ltd. (CCETC) at the Ossiomo Industrial Park, notwithstanding the orders of the Federal High Court, Abuja and the Edo State High Court.
“Just on 7th August, 2026, CCETC had sought to erect electricity poles on Ossiomo’s land to facilitate a connection to IPP1 and to the 33kV lines, both wholly owned by the Ossiomo companies.
“CCETC has been restrained by the Edo State High Court as well as the Federal High Court, Abuja from tampering with these facilities.
“Furthermore, CCETC in connivance with its some people of questionable characters have sought to attack Ossiomo personnel and security officers on its facilities, including its Gas Plant, and interfere with Ossiomo’s property and operations.
“In particular, on Thursday August 6, 2026 CCETC Chinese staff along with its hired people of questionable minds used an excavator to illegally trespass the Ossiomo land to erect two electricity concrete poles in direct breach of the orders of the Federal High Court, Abuja and Edo State High Court, Benin City.
“These actions are particularly concerning given the court orders and the fact that the underlying disputes remain before the courts.
“We therefore call on the relevant authorities to ensure CCETC comply with the court orders and prevent further unauthorised interference with Ossiomo’s property, infrastructure and operations to avoid the breakdown of law and order.
“Ossiomo Power Company reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the dispute through appropriate legal and regulatory channels.”
The company recalled that, in an earlier statement issued on August 1, 2026, it had accused Jiangsu Communication Clean Energy Technology Co. Ltd. (CCETC) of attempting to circumvent the ongoing litigation before the Federal High Court by filing a petition with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) against its wholly owned project company, COPC.
According to Ossiomo Power, the matter is the subject of Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/2025, a case that was instituted by CCETC itself in October 2025 and is currently pending before the Federal High Court.
