The general overseer and founder, God’s Greater Grace General Assembly Intl Incorporated, Benin, Rev Sunny Akenbor, has urged christians to be mindful of their utterances even in the face of daunting challenges, cause words are powerful.
He gave the advice while speaking on the topic: “longevity” during the Sunday church service in Benin City.
Rev. Akenbor said that Prophet Jeremiah in the bible cursed the day he was born because of some personal challenges he was going through instead of looking onto God who has the ability to turn day into darkness and vice versa.
“Cursed be the day I was born! May the day my mother bore me not be blessed! Cursed be the man who brought my father the news, who made him very glad, saying, “A child is born to you—a son!”
“May that man be like the towns
the Lord overthrew without pity.
“May he hear wailing in the morning, a battle cry at noon.
“For he did not kill me in the womb,
with my mother as my grave, her womb enlarged forever.
“Why did I ever come out of the womb to see trouble and sorrow and to end my days in shame? Jeremiah 20:14-18.
Akenbor said Jeremiah at the fit of his anger and frustration, made such a life threatening comment but christian must not toe that line but be guided of what they say even in their lowest ebbs because words are powerful.
He said longevity is the birthrights of every believer and that they should learn to profess it to themselves, stressing that it is what they tell God that He will do for them.
“With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation”, Psalm 91:16.
