The general overseer and founder of God’s Greater Grace General Assembly (GGGGA), Int’l Incorporated, Benin, Rev Sunny Akenbor, has said patience, tolerance and love are among other vital ingredients that ensure a lasting and blissful marriage.
He disclosed this while speaking on the topic: “Principles of godly marriage” during the Sunday church service in Benin.
Rev. Akenbor who described marriage as a union of two imperfect persons coming together to live as a husband and a wife, said both have different upbringings, culture, likes and dislikes but being under one roof, avails them the opportunity to learn, tolerate and cover up for each other lapses for the survival and success of the marriage.
Akenbor added that the man must be able to be patience with his wife when it happens that she has not been able to conceive and bear him a child after years of marriage.
He said instead of taunting her for her childlessness, he should encourage her to wait for God’s timing which is far different from man’s own calendar.
The clergyman, taking his bible reading from the book of Proverbs 14:1, underscored the importance of a wise woman whose through her ingenuity, builds her home while the foolish one pulls down her own house by her stupid deeds.
“The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down”, Proverbs 14:1.
He said a wise woman builds her home through the applications of wisdom, diligence, and godly character, rather than destroying it through folly or negativity.
He went further to say that she builds it by fostering peace, nurturing her family, managing resources wisely, and cultivating a spiritual foundation.
The general overseer of the church while speaking further, insisted that the man must be a good manager by imbibing godly virtue which include willingness to forgive at all times.
He called on married couples to strive to make their marriages work by internalizing the godly principles and eschew all forms of third party interferences.
He further prayed for peace and stability in families that are going through the ups and downs of life.
