The general overseer and founder of God’s Greater Grace General Assembly (GGGGA), Intl Incorporated, Benin, Rev Sunny Akenbor, has said despite several hurdles placed on Joseph’s way, yet he was able to fulfill his God’s given dream, which is, standing in the gap and saving his family from famine.
He said this while speaking on the topic: “Promise fulfilled” during the Sunday church service in Benin City.
Rev. Akenbor said Joseph had many dreams which he shared with his parents and siblings but they were not comfortable with their meanings having understood the implications.
Akenbor said what would have happened seamlessly, was now emersed in series of crises.
Reading from the book of Genesis 37:2-21, he said in the first instance, his father took much interest in him than his other siblings by gifting him a coat of multiple colours, secondly, Joseph sharing his dreams and thoughts with them adding that, all these summed up, bred jealousy and hatred for him so much so that his brothers conspired to kill him but it took the intervention of one of them to salvage the situation.
He said public disclosure of likeness for one child above the others is a ticking time bomb that could explode at any given time and that its end result is always disastrous.
The clergyman said to avoid such, parents must strive to foster harmonious relationships, halts rivalry among siblings by eschewing every tendency of undue favouritism and treat all equally.
The clergyman further warned believers in Christ to learn from Joseph and always speak less, plan more and let results do the talking because the vision given to an individual is meant for that person and should not be broadcast to avoid courting trouble and inviting unwarranted enemies to oneself.
“I will stand at my watch
and station myself on the ramparts;
I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint.
“Then the Lord replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it”, Habakkuk 2:1-2
The founder of the church also back up his point with a quote from the book of Proverbs 21:23.
“Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity”, Proverbs 21:23.
He said Joseph went through the mills, sold into slavery at age 17, spent almost 13 years in incarceration and eventually became a Prime Minister in Egypt at 30, a position equivalent to a governor.
He noted that despite all efforts made to truncate the plan and purpose of God Almighty for his life, stemming from his siblings and Potiphar’s wife, non came through but only God’s plans came to fruition.
“His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. “We are your slaves,” they said”, Genesis 50:18.
He reminded them that only the plans of God that will see the light of the day in their lives irrespective of whatever they might be facing at the moment urging them to keep their hope alive.
