The general overseer and founder of God’s Greater Grace General Assembly Intl Incorporated, Benin, Rev Sunny Akenbor has enjoined christian faithful to engage themselves in meaningful ventures if they want to be rich, saying prayers alone cannot guarantee being wealthy.
He gave the advice while speaking on the topic: “The gateway to prosperity” during the Sunday church service in Benin City.
Rev. Akenbor said that not that prayer is not good and effective but one must able to combine it with meaningful ventures to have a stable life adding that, God Himself has said that he is going to bless the works of our hands, therefore, we must keep our hands busy.
Akenbor added that, for God to bless us, we should have services which we are rendering to people and which they are willing to pay for, pointing out that, Joseph was called the Dreamer because he was able to interpret dreams.
He said because he was able to interpret dreams, which is the service rendered, he was made the Prime Minister in Egypt by King Pharoah.
“The plan seemed good to Pharaoh and to all his officials.
“So Pharaoh asked them, “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God?”
“Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you.
“You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you”, Genesis 41:37-40
The clergyman maintained that there are factors, such as ignorance, lack of willingness to save for the rainy day, lack of investment mentality are militating against the christians, these factors, according to him, are within their powers to control if they want to be rich.
He then urged them to acquire knowledge because prayers and fasting cannot cure ignorance.
He also encouraged believers to develop the mentality of servings adding that, the children of Israelites lacked it then.
He said during the periods of abundance, they did not save and because they didn’t save, they were forced by circumstances to go to the land of Egypt to search for foods adding that, that was how Joseph’s brothers were able to meet him (Joseph) in Egypt.
The general overseer of the church further charged believers to learn from Abraham who sowed in the land and reaped bountifully.
“Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him.
“The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants”, Genesis 26:12-14.
The man of God however cautioned christians to prioritize their time and that when it is time for business, they should do it with utmost commitment and when it is time for services to God, they should also give it their best.
