Regional Benin City Master-plans: Edo To Engage Stakeholders In Edo North, Central

The Edo State Government has made plans to engage stakeholders in Edo North and Edo Central senatorial districts on the state’s Regional Development and Benin City Master-plans.

The state Commissioner for Housing, Urban and Regional Planning and Development, Isoken Omo, said the engagement is to discuss the impact of the Master-plans on the senatorial districts.

The stakeholders’ engagement is scheduled to take place on March 19, 2024 and March 20, 2024.

“The Edo State Government is organizing a stakeholders’ engagement for Edo North and Edo Central to discuss the impact of the Edo State Regional Development and Benin City on these Senatorial Zones by the project consultant, MPPHURD and the 15 key Ministries identified to implement the Master-plans”, Omo said.

Participating MDAs include the Ministry of Environment and Sustainability, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Ministry of Roads and Bridges, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Water Resources and Ministry of Digital Economy, Science and Technology.

Others are Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Ministry of Mining and Energy, Ministry of Public Safety and Security, Ministry of Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Ministry of Business, Trade and Cooperatives, Ministry of Communication and Orientation and Ministry of Justice

Also to participate are Edo Geographic information Service (EDOGIS), Edo Internal Revenue Service, Edo State Transport Authority, Information Communication Technology Agency, Edo State Electricity Commission and Office of the Chief Security Officer (Govt. House).

The forum is expected to bring together Local Government Chairmen/ Chairperson, Enogie/Odionwere/Okaigele (or any other traditional ruler involved in land matters), Opinion Leaders, Civil Society Organizations, Youths, Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers, Trade Unions and Professionals of the Built Environment.

Others are Business Leaders, Professional Bodies, Market Leaders, NGOs, and Students, among others.
